SUSPECT PARTS

Mastering Suspect Parts “s/t” on Taken By Surprise and Oops Baby Records.

“Apocalypse Pop, waiting for the apocalypse to…drop…

Suspect Parts is the brainchild of two exiled Americans, one Brit and a German who managed to tame their inner demons with buzzsaw punk/powerpop, a cotton candy-meets-razorblade concoction that goes down surprisingly smooth.

Ex and current members of bands like The Briefs, Clorox Girls, Maniac, Ripchord, Radio Dead Ones and Red Dons – they are Suspect, they come from Suspect Parts.

Combining 60’s pop and bubblegum with late 70’s California beach punk and powerpop, Suspect Parts have something brewing that can’t be ignored. The Seeds, the Kinks, the Knack and the Buzzcocks can be heard, as well as a little Nuggets, a little Star Spangles or Rezillos, a little Protex or Undertones, but with a modern touch. Backward-looking but forward-thinking 60s pop with a punk edge.

Now, their self-titled full-length debut album is finally here. Recorded straight to analog tape in the negative 15 degree cold of a January in east Berlin. Ten songs, 24 minutes, a relentlessly catchy uppercut to the senses.

Apocalypse Pop. When oil runs out a major line is going to be drawn. Which side are you on? Which tribe are you willing to die for? … Pop’s chosen warriors will rule the apocalypse …. Drop, waiting for the apocalypse to…pop…”

Dulac

Mastering Dulac “Four Summers EP” on Sic Life Records.

Recorded and mixed by Assaf Bomgard.

“Limited edition EP from this german band, with a previous album released in TAKEN BY SURPRISE. Features 3 hits, perfect in time for summer. A mix of Post-Punk and Powerpop, and some more influences maybe… all tuneful, upbeat and catchy. References that struck me the most while listening: REPLACEMENTS, ELVIS COSTELLO and a bit of THE JAM.”

Dulac in ihrem vierten Sommer.”

Red Dons DHoT

Mixing the Red Dons “Dead Hand of Tradition” LP on Taken By Surprise and Deranged Records.

“Five years after their seminal “Fake Meets Failure” LP, Red Dons return with their junior album “The Dead Hand of Tradition,” set to be released August 10th on  Taken By Surprise Records in Europe and later this summer by Deranged Records in North America.

A lot has happened in those five years.

Two of the band’s core members Douglas Burns and Hajji Husayn left their hometown Portland, Oregon behind, for Chicago and London. They recorded and released a slew of singles on labels like Grave Mistake and Dirtnap (including a collaboration with TV Smith of UK punk legends The Adverts). Despite the distance between them, they’ve managed to tour regularly in North America and Europe.

In January this year they reconvened in Portland to record “The Dead Hand of Tradition” at Buzz Or Howl Studios, the same establishment where they recorded the album’s predecessor. “The Dead Hand of Tradition” features ten new tracks of their signature dark, driving, melodic punk rock sound. The formula of their distinctive songwriting hasn’t changed, but has matured as a result of having five more nomadic years under their belts. These new experiences have only added to the themes of alienation, emigration, and loss present in their music.

With Red Dons stalwart Richard Joachim on drums and recent recruit Ruby Sparks of The Stops (Dirt Cult Records / Sabotage Records) on guitar, the band just finished a Midwest / Canadian tour including an appearance at the Ottawa Explosion Fest last month and is returning to Europe for five weeks in the fall.

Pre-order limited white vinyl HERE!”

“CHEMICALS return to Europe for a secons round after their succesful first trip in April 2013! The record was produced by Tim Kerr (BIG BOYS, POISON 13) at Buzz Or Howl Studios and mastered by Daniel Husayn at North London Bomb Factory.
