Cold Callers

Mastering Cold Callers “Alright Girl/ Spying On Me”on Wanda Records.

Taken from Faster and Louder:

“Supergroup alert! Cold Callers feature Marco from No Front Teeth Records, The Gaggers, Miscalculations, Disco Lepers, etc. teaming up with members of Los Pepes (one of my five favorite bands of the moment!). The band recently released its debut single: “Alright Girl” b/w “Spying On Me”. I continue to marvel at how Marco can have dozens of projects going at the same time and still manage to have them all sound a little different. Cold Callers are one of the most unique bands I’ve heard in a while. Essentially they’re playing ’60s inspired jangly power pop, but there are hints of post-punk and psychedelia coming through as well. The A-side takes it back to the roots of power pop – bringing to mind early to mid ’60s Who and Brit-obsessed American garage bands like The Choir. I dig! “Spying On Me” is in a somewhat similar vein but more overtly post-punk influenced. I’d describe the mood of the song as alluringly creepy. It’s haunting yet quite beautiful. This could almost be a Miscalculations song!

All in all, this is a fantastic debut single from Cold Callers. Both songs are really sticking in my head. Get the vinyl from Wanda Records!”

Mixing Berlin Blackouts “Bonehouse Rendezvous” on Wanda Records.

Taken from American Oi:

“From the greatest German city in the world, Berlin, comes the brand new punk rock band the Berlin Blackouts. With (ex-)members of other ‘Hauptstadt’ outfits like the Radio Dead Ones, Erotic Devices, Twitchblades and The Uprising, these guys gained some experience over the years and that is something you definitely hear back on the band’s debut “Bonehouse Rendezvous”!

“Bonehouse Rendezvous” holds a total of eight songs exploring all directions of the punk genre. But the Berlin Blackouts don’t sound like they’re still looking for a specific style, they easily seem to mix elements of punk rock, ’77 punk, streetpunk and even glam-punk into a sound of their own , making them to be loved easily by a wider audience than a band that likes to stick to one specific genre.

This leads to an explosive mix of energy and melody, in both the Berlin Blackouts’ sound and vocal department, where they make excellent use of both dual lead vocals and fantastic back-up vocals. You just need a few spins to remember the words and before you know it you will be singing along, simply because tracks like “Slay The Demons”, “I Won’t Back Down”, “Home”, “G.O.D.” and “Stay Away” are catchy as hell!

Great debut album made for a wide audience of punk fans and available on a wide variety of formats! What more could you ask for?”

Ricky C Quartet

Mastering the Ricky C Quartet‘s second LP “Recent Affairs” on Wanda Records.

“Their long-awaited second album!
They’re loud, they’re fast and they’re dangerous! Its The Ricky C Quartet, bringing a style of classic punk rock n’ roll infused with a heaping dose of antipodean influenced adrenaline! Delivering a snarling energy with pissed-off lyrics and red-hot guitar leads, backed by walking bass lines that’ll get those feet moving” ”

Mastering the Ricky C Quartet‘s new 7″ on Wanda Records.

This is what they said about their debut 7″:

“Remember 10-15 years ago when there were hardly any good English punk bands? Now there are so many great ones that even the “side projects” are freaking phenomenal. Seriously, the current crop of U.K. punk groups has to be the best in at least 20 years. And when members of The Blowouts, Johnny Throttle, and the Ten-O-Sevens start a band based on a mutual love for Slaughter and the Dogs and Radio Birdman, you just know it’s gonna be the balls. The Ricky C Quartet, formed just last year, have dropped their debut single. “Small Species”, another No Front Teeth/Rapid Pulse Records co-release, brings to mind the harder edge of classic Brit-punk infused with a heaping dose of Aussie adrenaline. In short, this band is 100 percent as advertised. Both tracks here deliver some snarling rock n’ roll with pissed-off lyrics and red-hot guitar leads, backed by bass lines that’ll get your booty bouncing. And let’s face it: nobody spews profanity with the panache of the English. A sing-along refrain of “Don’t fuck around me!”, so delightfully acrimonious here, wouldn’t sound nearly as cool if these guys were from, say, New Jersey. Both “Small Species” and “Tonight” imbue a profuse fuck-off sentiment with serious catchiness – a formula that can’t lose when it’s done well. All in all, this is an absolutely ripping debut record. Nothing fancy or unexpected here – just great punk played furiously and brilliantly. Where have all the boot boys gone?”

The Gaggers

Mastering the new Gaggers LP coming out on Wanda Records.

“The Gaggers got together through a staunch hatred of everything new and polished . From members of disco lepers, botox rats, black list brigade, the blowouts, the seminals, the troubadours, the hateful, needle automatics and the london guns. They play in your face, spit in there arse punk rock that’s out with the new and in with the old!. They don’t give a fuck so why should you. Gag on this, get off your computer and go put your fingers down someone’s throat!!!

Their aim was to re-ignite the energy, urgency and danger in real punk rock. The style is late’70’s rock ‘n’ roll influenced by the Jabbers, Dead Boys, Pagans,Heartbreakers and Eater with throat-slashing guitars and razor-sharp vocals. The Gaggers came to attack.”
