The Bad Machine

Mastering The Bad Machine “II” on Ghoulhouse Records.

“The Bad Machine started in Feb. of 2010 and is comprised of members from L.A. bands The Switch-Ups, LA DRUGZ, and Can Of Beans. Their folk/rock/indie sound is filled with haunting tones as well as catchy hooks with an ambient feel reminiscent of such acts as My Bloody Valentine, Band of Horses, and Sonic Youth. Songs are influenced by life, death, drug abuse, love and heartbreak. The Bad Machine’s sound is a fresh take on these genre’s and a very promising one.

The Bad Machine hails from San Pedro, CA with a cosmic sound and a stellar style. Combining out of this world guitars, colossal rhythm, phenomenal vocals, and buttery songwriting, the band has been touching butts on the local scene since 1942. The Bad Machine covers a wide range of styles, and is influenced by everyone from Electric Light Orchestra to Wham!. Check out the Bad Machine rocking your local bop hall this summer!”

Mastering Gift Shop Girls “Aloha, Paradise” on Passion on Plastic Records.

“Eight tracks; is it an album or an EP? I don’t know and I don’t guess it matters since I love all eight songs on the debut album from Gift Shop Girls entitled Aloha, Paradise. I mean, how can you go wrong with frenetic, furious punk rock that hits you right in the happy spot and never lets go. I have no idea how to pick a favorite song or songs because they’re all just too cool for school. What’s wonderful to witness is an unsigned band whose debut sounds like it has had professional production. You have to love technology. Never have bands been able to do so much, not just with producing and recording their music but also with promotion and it’s great to see/hear. While none of the songs on Aloha, Paradise is very long, they’re all fun and I can’t wait to see these guys play live, preferably with me showing up on the guest list and getting a bunch of sweet pictures. Just to clarify a possibly confusing point, none of the band’s members are female. Irony is my favorite.”

‘Wasted History’, the astounding new EP by London based punks The Burnt Tapes, was recorded in an attic above an abandoned pub. Fittingly, the result is an enticing beer soaked rampage of fast paced, unpolished melody – see ‘From My Gut, To Your Face’ in particular as proof.

The record celebrates the band’s reunion following time apart. The Burnt Tapes began life in Athens before coming together again in the UK’s capital. “Wasted History, sums up the years we spent apart as we all went our separate way after high school…and about how the present is all about trying to make up for lost time,” vocalist Pan explains.

Citing the likes of Iron Chic, Leagues Apart and Apologies, I Have None as influences, The Burnt Tapes have enjoyed shows alongside fellow up-and-comers Cement Matters and The Ligaments. ‘Wasted History’ sees them make an exciting statement of intent, and should see them move up the ranks come 2015.”

“Blank Pages are from Berlin, Germany and play dark melodic punk that sounds a bit like The Marked Men covering the Wipers. This single includes two killer songs recording in Portland, OR while embarking on their first (and, sadly, last) US tour, that are the perfect follow up to a their self-titled LP we released last year.  The band just completed a European tour and announced that they are breaking up. Members of Modern Pets and Life Fucker.”
