Street Eaters

Mastering Street Eaters second full-length, BLOOD::MUSCLES::BONES, on Nervous Intent Records (U.S.) and Contraszt! Records (Europe).

Recorded at Portland’s Buzz or Howl by the esteemed Stan Wright, here is what The Bay Bridged have to say about it:

“Street Eaters may know a thing or two about crafting confrontational tunes, if their newest single “Reverse” is any indicator. The Berkeley-based duo, comprised of drummer Megan March and guitarist John No, recently shared the track off their sophomore full-length, Blood::Muscles::Bones out on Nervous Intent Records on June 17.

That said: “Reverse” may or may not be in the running for the best heavy, post-punk jam of the fast-approaching summer. The song is like a pile driver, with elements that come together to imfringe upon you for its roughly two minutes and thirty seconds of existence. If you like raw, sincere music with a sense of agency and urgency.”

Mastering the Ricky C Quartet‘s new 7″ on Wanda Records.

This is what they said about their debut 7″:

“Remember 10-15 years ago when there were hardly any good English punk bands? Now there are so many great ones that even the “side projects” are freaking phenomenal. Seriously, the current crop of U.K. punk groups has to be the best in at least 20 years. And when members of The Blowouts, Johnny Throttle, and the Ten-O-Sevens start a band based on a mutual love for Slaughter and the Dogs and Radio Birdman, you just know it’s gonna be the balls. The Ricky C Quartet, formed just last year, have dropped their debut single. “Small Species”, another No Front Teeth/Rapid Pulse Records co-release, brings to mind the harder edge of classic Brit-punk infused with a heaping dose of Aussie adrenaline. In short, this band is 100 percent as advertised. Both tracks here deliver some snarling rock n’ roll with pissed-off lyrics and red-hot guitar leads, backed by bass lines that’ll get your booty bouncing. And let’s face it: nobody spews profanity with the panache of the English. A sing-along refrain of “Don’t fuck around me!”, so delightfully acrimonious here, wouldn’t sound nearly as cool if these guys were from, say, New Jersey. Both “Small Species” and “Tonight” imbue a profuse fuck-off sentiment with serious catchiness – a formula that can’t lose when it’s done well. All in all, this is an absolutely ripping debut record. Nothing fancy or unexpected here – just great punk played furiously and brilliantly. Where have all the boot boys gone?”

The Gaggers

Mastering the new Gaggers LP coming out on Wanda Records.

“The Gaggers got together through a staunch hatred of everything new and polished . From members of disco lepers, botox rats, black list brigade, the blowouts, the seminals, the troubadours, the hateful, needle automatics and the london guns. They play in your face, spit in there arse punk rock that’s out with the new and in with the old!. They don’t give a fuck so why should you. Gag on this, get off your computer and go put your fingers down someone’s throat!!!

Their aim was to re-ignite the energy, urgency and danger in real punk rock. The style is late’70’s rock ‘n’ roll influenced by the Jabbers, Dead Boys, Pagans,Heartbreakers and Eater with throat-slashing guitars and razor-sharp vocals. The Gaggers came to attack.”

Mind Trap

Mastering the new Mind Trap EP on Refuse Records and Sfr-Hardcore.

“When Germans secretly tighten their bonds with Russians again, that can’t mean anything good for Europe and the rest of the world. The “Mind Trap” pact was signed in Berlin of 2013, behind the sealed bunker doors on Wilhelmstrasse. Luckily, we managed to sneak in a Polish mole; an inside conspirator, through whom we try to keep things in control. Europe may take another breath. Officials signing the new world order here, all awarded by Iron X’s for their merits: Field Marshal Eggert (divisions Highscore, Monster and Nothing) , General artillery Eggebrecht (divisions of The Tangled Lines, Government Flu, Vitamin X) , General infantry and propaganda minister Stronzik (divisions Highscore, Short Fuse) and the Kremlin representative tovarishch Generalissimus Chkhikvadze (division Rearrange). Mind Trap is a total vegan straight edge brigade that sound harder than a tiger tank engine, more frightening than a katyusha and will come over you faster and even more destructive than the blitzkrieg ever could. ” Life among liars and thieves” 7 “contains six blasts and it’s coming out in a cooperation between Refuse Records and SFR Records underground headquarters.”

Strange Attractor

Mastering the new Strange Attractor EP “Barely Doin’ Crime”.

Coming out on Mammoth Cave and Secret Identity Records.

“It’s hardly been long enough to recover from the initial shock of their excellent “Back To The Cruel World” LP, but Strange Attractor are already back to twist the aural knife with a new EP. “Barely Doin’ Crime” is a suitably damaging successor, its six tracks running the gamut from psychotic creepycrawly dirge to speedy hardcore rant, the default position an off-kilter churn of driving rhythm and drunken buzzing treble that manages to stay unpredictable and surprising but never sounds remotely forced. Frontman Jeff Houle spits out his neurosis like a northern Ontario Doc Dart, and the fusion of voice, lyrics and music just drips menace, negativity, aggression and paranoia.”

Shiny Brown

Mixing Shiny Brown.

“High five! Our 7” STRAWBERRIES will be released by Kink Records and Meta Matter Records next month. The song above is one out of seven “songs of total fastcore mayhem, combined with slower and punkier parts. A thick and hammering bass, crazy and unconventional guitar playing, fast-as-hell-drumming and a vocalist screaming on the top of his lungs.” (meta matter records)”

Joya

“New London Oi! band going for the traditional UK sound we know and love.”

Rhythm of Cruelty

Mastering Rhythm of Cruelty “Dysphoria” LP on Edmonton’s Crude City Records.

What they had to say about their last EP:

“Well, Canada’s Rhythm of Cruelty have named themselves after one of my favorite songs of all time (by the almighty Magazine), so they’ve got a lot to live up to here, and I must say they do it. Definitely in the post-punk / goth vein that’s all the rage right now, like my favorites in this style (Pleasure Leftists, Savages), Rhythm of Cruelty concentrate on the more melodic, even anthemic end of this dark sound. If you dig Pleasure Leftists (particularly their great recent 12″ on Deranged), you’ll definitely want to pick this one up.”

Secret Prostitutes Crooked Bangs

Mastering the Secret Prostitutes / Crooked Bangs – Split EP on Erste Theke Tonträger.

“Two bands located in Texas, one was singing in French, the other in Indonesian and I’m gonna put out a Split 7“ for them… Do you know which bands I’m talking about!? If not, here is the answer: Crooked Bangs and Secret Prostitutes. After their stunning first record, Crooked Bangs approach their sound in a way that is sinister but also inviting, a veil of gloom — courtesy of Ginestra’s foreboding vocals and Wendel’s snappy guitar work — with an inducing rhythm section. There are elements of ’70s punk and ’60s garage rock lurking throughout, but these influences don’t override their own ideas. The upfront person is vocalist/bassist Leda Celeste Ginestra, who sings like she discovered punk in the catacombs of a Parisian cabaret. Alternating between French and English lyrics, Ginestra brings uncommon depth and richness to macabre depictions of blood castles and flesh-ripping wolves. At the same time, she’s quick to morph into guttural, Linda Blair-style screeching when the song demands it. Guitarist Samantha Wendel cuts the clutter in favor of finding the perfect surf-goth tone, while drummer Phillip Gonzalez plows through the anxious night like a pepped-up trucker. On the flip there will be the mysterious reincarnation of KBD Punk. In my opinion there’s no introduction needed! You just have to know that the KBD spirit of the band and the music fit genuinely into the era of the style. They would fit perfectly into the early Houston punk scene of bands looking for a place to play. The beat and Indonesian lyrics will cause you to tap your boot, shake your ass and scratch your head while you’re banging it. But it will always make you smile, unlike your KGB counterparts who haven’t been this confused since trying to understand the argot of contempt sung secretively by bands behind the Iron Curtain.”
