Mastering Good Throb “s/t” on La Vida Es Un Mus.

“Hear the notorious London punk band’s latest obscenity. Following their first two singles and 2014 LP, this record offers four rude and crude tunes. Emerging from the musical manifestation of a bad acid trip, songs kick in with militaristic drumming, underpinning mean riffs and heart-pumping bass, overlaid with the vulgar vocal thunderings of an irritable goblin woman. Distinct themes include: a loving ode to unsuccessful murderer and feminist outlier of the 1970s Valerie Solanas; a poisonous take-down of slick dicks everywhere; a disgusting and treasonous anti-monarchic polemic; and an erotic re-imagining of England’s humdrum motorway service stations. Now doomed to (temporary, we hope) geographical separation, this record will be the last squirt of noises from these sourpuss primitives for the known future.

Gloriously cloaked in a hot red fold-out cover by singer KY Ellie depicting the Duke of Edinburgh at the point of climax, as disease-like man-milk splatters and creeps over barely-disguised phalluses and a smoking shrimp. Also includes a poster of distorted children of the night from the ugly brain of Throb bassist Ash Tray.”

Members of Detergents, No, Good Throb, Arms Race, Obstruct, and The Flex wanted to create politically infused anti-war songs to pogo to complete with phaser pedal and stomping drums to smash the state to.

The cassette comes with a screen printed sleeve by Max Harper with art by Guillem ‘El Muro’ of Una Bèstia Incontrolable.”

“London’s NO finally unleash their third vinyl offering. 8 songs in barely 13 minutes. Ferocious dissonant hardcore focused in intensity and all-out rage. Non stop hardcore showing the band at their peak. References to Midwest USA hardcore are often used to describe NO but while not completely off the mark they are just one of the many points of reference for this rather complicated band. NO are another living proof of how great the current UK hardcore crop is.

The album comes in a full colour sleeve designed by the greatest Ralph Simmonds and including a heavy weight 11″x11″ lyric insert.”

“A six track record, formidable debut, clocking in at 12 minutes from a newish London band featuring members of Good Throb, Skylark, Family Outing and lots of others. Biggest comparison here is probably Rudimentary Peni, all creepy bass lines and subject matter imbued with the rage of anyone living under the regime of Boris Johnson and terminal street harassment. A literal hail of rage, snarly guitar, 1-2 1-2 Actually fuck-you drums, with astoundingly angry female vocals. Ones to watch.”

Mastering Frau “Punk is My Boyfriend” EP on Static Shock Records.

“Static Shock Records gets the honour of releasing the debut three track 7″ from London feminist punks Frau who feature members of Woolf and Good Throb. They released the much loved 8 track 10 minute demo on Tuff Enuff Records in late 2013 (which has now been reissued on LP by Dead Beat Records) and now return with three more short blasts of discordant and furious noise. ‘Punk Is My Boyfriend’ is a dirty and scratchy cut with pounding drums and an insistent guitar hook. It comes over like a mix of Pre ‘Cut’ Slits, Huggy Bear and Kleenex. ‘Snakeskin’ is possibly the only song in the world that could have appeared on both Crass’ ‘Bullshit Detector’ and any Kill Rock Stars compilation. Final track ‘Orca’ sounds like it could fall apart at any moment and just about makes the one minute mark. The guitars grind over a busy bass, heavy yet loose drums and explosive vocals. DIY has never sounded so good. Limited to 400 copies with hand stamped sleeves.”
